About us
We are a highschool homeschool group called Life Academy and this school year we have been working to host a charitable 5k. All proceeds from the race will be donated for Joppa to help homeless people around Des Moines. We have about 10 students and we meet once a week to share ideas and work together to complete the necessary projects to complete a 5k.
About Joppa
Joppa helps to create communities of unconditioned love, support and hope for the homeless,
as they work together to prevent and ultimately end homelessness in all our communities.
Joppa collaborates with community partners, helps homeless people access existing resources
and mobilizes private donations from families, churches and organizations to meet unmet needs
in homeless services, housing and education.
About the race
The race is 5 kilometers long. The race will take place in Terra park at 9:00am. All the proceeds from the race will be going to Joppa, a local charity focused in the Des Moines area. The starting price will pay for a spot in the race as well as a t-shirt if you are over the age of 12. If you are younger you will have to pay extra for a t--shirt.
